Agricultural (Ag) Engine Registration

The District is responsible for implementing the Federal Hazardous Air Pollutant regulations (40 Code of Federal Regulations Parts 60 and 63) and the State of California’s Air Toxic Control Measure (California Code of Regulations, Title 17, Section 93115) as they pertain to engines. To that end, District staff worked with the agricultural community to implement a program to address the Federal and State engine requirements and adopted the local District Rule 220 entitled,

Agricultural (Ag) Diesel Engine Registration.

District Rule 220 requires Agricultural diesel engines greater than 50 horsepower to be registered with the District. However, the Rule does not apply to tractors or wind machines; therefore the typical registered Ag diesel engine is used to pump water or provide (electrical) power for growing crops or raising livestock.
