Wendy Root Askew is a creative problem-solver with 4th generation deep roots in our community. Askew is committed to advancing policy that promotes the ability of families – in all their forms. She is committed to supporting all Monterey County residents to have their basic needs met in a safe and dignified manner.
Askew was sworn in as Supervisor, and Chair, of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors on January 5, 2021. Askew serves on the Board’s Budget, Legislative, Human Resource, and Alternative Energy & Environment committees. In 2021, she was also appointed the Board of Supervisor Ad Hoc Committees addressing COVID Communications and Housing Authority of Monterey County Reorganization. Additionally, Askew represents the Board of Supervisors on the Monterey Regional Waste Management District Board, Monterey Bay Air Resources District Board, Transportation Agency for Monterey County Board, Remote Access Network Board, and Monterey County Children’s Council.
